“I wanted to combine two pieces like Pollock's Portrait and a Dream, and use drifting drones and rhythms to emulate the rhythmic but also the randomness of his techniques. It's a piece of subconscious work, in the sense that the initial jam was recorded really quickly and spontaneously again wanting to emulate Pollock's technique. It was initially captured on portable tape machine using a casiotone 1000p through a delay pedal and into a guitar amp. I put it into logic where I then added bass/melodies using the Yamaha cs5. I also added some extra bits using a Korg SAS 20 and then finished it with some bass guitar with all strings tuned to the same note for big octaves. The samples I used are all from my ever expanding collection of field recordings - this particular bunch was recorded in a doctor’s surgery”.
